Privacy Policy

Last Updated: October 2026

This page explains what information this site collects when you visit, why it collects it, and what you can do about it. The short version: I collect as little as I can, I never sell it, and you can ask me to delete it anytime.

Who I Am

This site, thedylanharris.com, is run by me, Dylan Harris. When this policy says “I,” “me,” or “this site,” that’s who it means. If you have a question about your data, reach me through the contact page.

What I Collect

I only collect information in a few situations:

  • When you contact me. The contact form asks for your name, email, and message. I use them to reply to you. That’s it.
  • When you sign up for a free guide or my email list. I collect your email address so I can send you the guide you asked for, plus new stories and updates. You can unsubscribe anytime by replying to any email or through the contact page.
  • When you leave a comment. If comments are open on a post, WordPress stores your name, email, comment, and IP address to help filter out spam.
  • When you just browse. Google Analytics collects anonymous usage data, explained below.

Analytics and Cookies

I use Google Analytics, connected through Google Site Kit, to understand how people find and use this site: which pages get read, roughly where visitors are located, what device they’re on, and how they got here. It helps me figure out what’s worth writing more of.

Google Analytics uses cookies, which are small files stored in your browser. The data I see is grouped together, so I can’t see who you are personally. Google handles this data under its own privacy policy.

Want to opt out? You can block cookies in your browser settings or install Google’s Analytics opt-out add-on.

Embedded Content

Some posts include content from other websites, like YouTube videos. Embedded content works the same as if you visited that website directly, which means it may collect data about you, use cookies, and track how you interact with it.

Affiliate Links

Some posts may contain affiliate links. If you click one, the company on the other end may use a cookie to record that you came from this site, so I can earn a commission if you buy something. The Disclaimer page has the details.

Who I Share Your Data With

I don’t sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Ever. The only companies that handle it are the services that keep this site running:

  • Hostinger, which hosts this website
  • Google, for analytics
  • My email service provider, for sending newsletters

How Long I Keep It

Contact messages and email addresses are kept until you ask me to delete them or you unsubscribe. Comments stay up unless you ask me to remove them. Analytics data is kept according to Google Analytics’ retention settings.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, including the EU, the UK, and California, you have the right to:

  • See the personal data I have about you
  • Correct anything that’s wrong
  • Have your data deleted
  • Opt out of tracking or unsubscribe from emails at any time

To make any of these requests, just reach out through the contact page. I’ll respond within 30 days.

Security

This site uses an SSL certificate (the padlock in your browser bar) and runs on a secure server. No website is 100% secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Children’s Privacy

This site isn’t meant for anyone under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If anything here changes, I’ll update this page and the date at the top. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, send me a message.
